Experience and Qualifications
I have 8 years NHS experience working in GP Surgeries, and currently work for a major NHS IAPT Counselling Service outside of Hampshire. I have also worked for an EAP(Employee Assistance Programme) Company as a Helpline Counsellor. My NHS Counselling work means that I encounter Clients with a very wide range of issues, thereby increasing my experience and skills.
I have a Diploma in Humanistic Counselling. I am an accredited member of the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) and am qualified (Certificate 101) in Transactional Analysis
I possess a Certificate in Couples Counselling as a result of intensive training at Basingstoke Counselling Service in 2015.
I am accredited for IPT(Inter Personal Therapy) (1) which is in common use as a high intensity treatment for depression throughout the NHS.
My training was integrative covering a number of different theoretical approaches; my main approach is humanistic (2) however I am familiar with a CBT(Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) (3) approach that can be used for clients with anxiety issues. I am also familiar with a Mindfulness approach and I am able to offer this type of therapy should it feel appropriate.
Mindfulness is defined as “the intentional, accepting and non-judgemental focus of one’s attention on the emotions, thoughts and sensations occurring in the present moment”
